'Now We Have To Follow It Up With Better Home Results'

29 September 2021

Boss David Artell says it is now important that his Crewe Alexandra side take advantage of a League One double header at home against Cambridge United and Doncaster Rovers.

The Crewe boss said last night that he would have taken remaining unbeaten after trips to Rotherham and Plymouth, but that we have to build of those two away points with home points.

Crewe Alexandra’s only league victory this season came at home to Burton Albion and Artell was disappointed that we couldn’t following up that promising 2-0 win with another three points against Morecambe three days later. Crewe’s last outing at Mornflake Stadium ended in a disappointing 3-1 defeat to the Shrimpers.

Following another hard fought draw with Ryan Lowe’s in-form Plymouth side, Artell said: “We now have back to back home games in the league. I am not sure if the Doncaster game is going ahead because it is another International weekend, but I’ve not heard anything to the contrary.

“We have Cambridge up first and it is important we build on these two away points from going to tough places like Rotherham and Plymouth. We have to make sure we start winning our home games and build some momentum there again.

“If you can pick up points like the ones we have recently and win your home games then you can quickly climb the table.

He added: “If we can produce another hard working performance and play like we did for 25, 30 minutes here for longer then we will be more  okay. We played really well for half an hour against an in-form Plymouth side who could have gone top if they had won the game and results had gone there way. The challenge now is for us to do that over long spells in games.”
