'Morecambe Are A Terrific Club But I Hope We Beat Them'

Artell hoping to secure back-to-back home wins with his former club Morecambe up next.

David Artell says that his former club Morecambe is a ‘terrific club with a core of good people behind it.’

Crewe host Morecambe this evening aiming to win back-to-back league wins after we defeated Burton Albion 2-0 on Saturday. The match at the Mornflake Stadium is a re-arranged fixture after the original game was postponed due to International call-ups for the Shrimpers earlier in the month.

Ahead of the visit of Stephen Robinson’s side tonight, Artell told us: “Morecambe will always hold a special place in my heart. It is a terrific club with really good people at its core.

“It is very similar to Crewe in that sense. It is one of the unfashionable sides and I don’t think Crewe or Morecambe are many people’s second teams if you like, but they have good people running through them and the fans are very knowledgeable and loyal.

“I enjoyed my time there as a player but there is no sentiment. There cannot be. I am manager of Crewe and I hope we beat them. It should be another good game and we are looking to win the game and get those back-to-back home wins if we can.”
