Gomes In Contention After Successfully Coming Through An Hour For The 23's

Former Doncaster Rovers midfielder getting fitter all time as he waits for his Alex debut.

Spanish midfielder Madger Gomes is fit and available for selection again for this weekend’s trip to Rotherham United.  The former Leeds, Liverpool and Doncaster Rovers man is set to make his debut for the club after signing on deadline day.

After a short delay over his new EU settlement visa, Gomes played 60 minutes for the club’s Under-23 side at Swansea on Monday and was then named on the first-team bench for the visit of Morecambe.

Gomes, 24, missed out on a full pre-season because he was without a club and although he kept himself going over the summer, he has a shortage of match fitness.

Due to his professionalism and general fitness levels, the former Villarreal FC man has still managed to force his way into Artell’s matchday squad of 18.

Artell told the club’s official website: “Madger is fine. He was on the bench against Morecambe after playing 60 minutes for the Under-23s at Swansea.

“The scouting report back said he was absolutely fine, so he will train as usual and he is in contention for Rotherham on Saturday.”
