Nothing Too Serious With Knight's Slight Injury

15 September 2021

City youngster just needs period of rest after some discomfort.

Crewe Alexandra’s on-loan winger Ben Knight missed last weekend’s draw at Shrewsbury Town with a slight injury. The Manchester City winger, who hit the winner against the same opponents in the Papa John’s Trophy has been suffering with some discomfort and soreness with his interosseous bone - the one that connects the tibia and fibula.

Knight, 19, tried to train through the pain barrier but David Artell says the club are taking no chances with the teenager and want him 100% right again before he is under consideration again for selection.

Crewe are in constant contact with our former physiotherapist, Nick Oakley, who now works in the Manchester City medical department over the player's condition.

Artell says that the slight injury is nothing too serious and just needs a bit of time to heal properly.

He revealed: “Ben has had some discomfort with the bone that attaches the tibia and fibula. We have checked him out to make sure there is nothing sinister going on there.

“He trained and we asked him if he was alright. Of course, being the way he is, he said yes but he wasn’t. We sent him in and got him checked out.

“We are in contact with Nick at Manchester City, who helps look after that age group and we are all hopeful it won’t be long. He just needs some time and we will be sensible with him. It is nothing too serious.”
