Alex boss aiming for a reaction after mixed home results against Burton and Morecambe.

Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell believes that some of his players elected to do ‘unusual things’ for them as they were desperate to help turn things around against Morecambe after finding ourselves 2-0 down inside half an hour.

Artell believes that we moved away from the things that we had practiced and although he is says that the effort was admirable, it was at times detrimental to the shape.

Artell explained to the club’s official website: “There were times that they tried things that we didn’t ask them to do or want them to do.

“I think because we were chasing the game, they want ed to do more and that effort was admirable but didn’t help.

“Their efforts were misplaced at times and it affected the decision-making but we have to dust them down and go again. We are on the right track. We had a good performance and result against Burton and have scored four goals in our last three games, but we know we have to do better and there is a lot of work to do.

“Football has a knack of kicking you in the stomach when you don’t expect it. We had the high of the result on Saturday and then the low of Tuesday, but that happens and you have to get on with it and react.”
