New signing Madger Gomes believes Crewe Alexandra can start to the climb the League One table soon enough. The former Villarreal, Liverpool and Leeds man has signed a two-year-deal with us following his release from Doncaster Rovers in the summer and the 24-year-old says he has seen enough inside the Alex dressing room to suggest a successful season at this level.
The former Spain Youth International told the club’s official website: “I am very happy to be here and I have been excited by it ever since the gaffer called me to come here. I want to play as many games as I can to help the team have a successful season and do my best.
“I have played against Crewe a couple of times before and I like the way they play football. The style suits my game. I like to play football and be box-to-box. All I can say to the fans is that whenever I pull the Crewe shirt on I will give it 100%. Hopefully, if we can all pull in the same direction, the players and supporters, we will start getting positive results again.
“League One has some massive clubs in it now with Sheffield Wednesday, Sunderland, Bolton, all those clubs but anyone can beat anyone on the day. If you play well and give 100% you can beat the top clubs and if you don’t then it works the other way too.
“I feel good. It has been a different summer for me (one without a club) and it was a different situation to be in but I was happy also as I had more time with my family and learnt a lot.
“When you are home, you can think about your career and what you want to achieve and I want to come to Crewe and be successful with them.”
