Daniels pushes his claim with assured performance at New Meadow
Donveron Daniels captained the Crewe Alexandra side in last night’s 1-0 win over Shrewsbury Town in the EFL Trophy and boss David Artell was suitably impressed with the defender’s performance at the New Meadow.
Daniels helped the club achieve a clean-sheet and he kept Ryan Bowman relatively quiet inside and outside the box fairly quiet all evening.
Artell said of his stand-in skipper: “I was very pleased with Donervon. That is why we brought him into the football club because he showed what he can do. He wasn’t able to show that last year with the injuries but we have had a chat and he is doing okay.
“That is the Donervon we want to see because we know he is a good player. Now it is a question of him becoming more consistent and stringing a number of games together.
“He hasn’t really been able to do that since coming here but we have got to get more out of him as well because we know what a good player he can be when he is fit and playing like he can.”
