'Bennett Hoping To Repay Fans With More Exciting Performances'

On-loan winger hoping to play his part as Crewe search for first win of the season

Crewe Alexandra’s on-loan winger, J’Neil Bennett, says that he is looking forward to playing at the Mornflake Stadium for the first time this weekend if selected to face Burton Albion.

Bennett must be confident of retaining his place following his impressive debut against Shrewsbury Town.

The Spurs winger was a constant threat at the New Meadow, creating a number of openings and having a succession of shots at goal. By his own admission, the one he failed to keep down in the second half should have proved to be the winning goal.

Ahead of the visitors of the Brewers, the 19-year-old told us: “It was a really good experience against Shrewsbury. It was great to make my debut and although we only drew the game, it was a good performance from us. It was a bit of a bitter sweet occasion for me, because I was disappointed not to score.

“The fans were great and hopefully I can repay them soon. It was great to see so many of them at Shrewsbury and I cannot wait to play in front of them at home.

“The philosophy of Crewe suits my game. They want me to be effective and as a winger I know I have to assist and score goals. The style will suit how I want to play and I’ve settled in really well. Most of the lads are of a similar age really and everyone gets on.

He added: “There are some really good players here and I’m just grateful for the opportunity Crewe have given me. It is a great experience for me. “
