Spurs winger ready to test himself with first loan at Crewe.
Loanee winger J’Neil Bennett says he is looking forward to challenging himself at first-team level after agreeing to a loan deal initially to January. The Tottenham Hotspur youngster recently made his full debut in the Europa Conference League Play-Off First Leg against Portugese side Paços Ferreira.
The 19-year-old Londoner impressed during the summer when he came for a week to get used to his new surroundings at Crewe and he says that short stay put him in good stead when the loan deal was formalised ahead of the closure of the summer transfer window.
J’Neil told the club’s official website: “I am very excited about the move and I cannot wait to get started and help the team.
“I came in pre-season for a week, so it helped that I knew the lads when I came back. It was good to come up for the week and get used to everything.
“I like the way Crewe play football, their philosophy and it’s a brilliant club to be at. There are some really good players here and they have also bought in some good loan players, so I think we have the making of a good team.
“Football is an entertainment, so I want to entertain on the pitch. I think as an attacker, you have to assist and score goals and that is what I intend to do here. Having that end product helps win games and that is how I want this club.
“The gaffer just said to me, we know what we can do and you know us, so when that opportunity comes you just have to take it. I just cannot wait for the games to come around but being able to train this week has been good and has allowed the new signings to get used to people.”
