Alex boss left frustrated after his side make poor decisions in Morecambe home loss.
David Artell said his Crewe side got exactly what they deserved after we suffered a 3-1 loss to newly promoted Morecambe side. The Alex boss was critical of our decision making in our disappointing home defeat and says that our sloppy play gifted Morecambe their goals.
Following the defeat, Artell told the club’s official website: “You have to take it on the chin and we have to dust ourselves off and go again. You have to give Morecambe credit but we didn’t half giving them a helping hand tonight. We gave them the first two goals for a start.
“We actually started the game well and on top but then we forgot to run and cut crosses into our box and that is what happens. The first goal came from a break from Greg Leigh and the second goal was very similar coming from the other side.
“The third goal was even worse. It came from a goal kick and we didn’t deal with it at all well. We made horrific decisions and when you do that you get exactly what you deserve. When you make poor decisions and don’t run about, you cannot expect to get anything from the game and that is what happened this evening.
“I am sure that if you look at the stats, the majority of the players ran more on Saturday than they did tonight and that’s what happens. We gave the ball away too often and made some horrific decisions for long periods of the game and you have to credit Morecambe, they came here to frustrate us but I was more frustrated with our own performance. They didn’t have to work too hard for their victory.”
