Artell: "Players Have Come In And Hit The Ground Running But The Squad Have Helped Them"

20 September 2021

David Artell has been pleased with the impact made by his transfer window signings and admits that they have successfully hit the ground running after the club moved quickly on deadline day to help bolster our squad options.

Scott Robertson, Scott Kashket and J’Neil Bennett all started in the 2-0 win over Burton Albion on Saturday. Bennett created the own goal for the opening goal and then rounded off the win with a late finish past our former goalkeeper Ben Garratt.

Artell says he is pleased with the contribution of the trio but says that it has been a team effort on and off the pitch.

The Crewe boss told the club’s official website: “The players have come in and played their part. They have the freedom to do that and all the other players here have helped with that.

“We haven’t restricted them and they have settled into our team and the way we want to play. We are not overloading them with information.

“We drip feed them information. It is a question of giving them snippets of information but often.

He added: “If you try to overload them with information quickly then they can implode and burn out. They are starting to show those signs of information and there is long to go.”
