Boss reflects on first league win of the season against Burton Albion.

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell told the club’s official website that the 2-0 win over Burton Albion at Mornflake Stadium was another major step in the right direction.

Crewe recorded that first league of the season and are now beginning to build some momentum after a win and a draw against Shrewsbury. Artell is looking for that unbeaten run to continue against Morecambe tomorrow night.

Artell told the club’s official website: “It was another improved performance from us and a step in the right direction. There is a lot of work still to be done and more improvement to be made.

“We said that it felt the season started last week at Shrewsbury after the upheaval of the window. There is no-one thinking we have got that first win and we have cracked it. Far from it, the players know there is a long way to go and we all have to keep working hard.

“It was a good win and a good performance for differing reasons. Now we have another home game against Morecambe and it gives us something to build on. If we can continue to improve then I am sure with the players we have we can create chances and score the goals we will need. “
