Boss says on to the next challenge after home defeat to promotion favourties.
Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says that he will quickly move his focus to Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday after an impressive Sunderland side inflicted a second successive defeat on his side last night.
Sunderland took full advantage of our mistakes to win 4-0 at the Mornflake Stadium and Artell says that he and his team will ‘pick the bones’ out of the errors that led to their goals, but also credit his players for their application and intensity they brought to the performance against on the title favourites.
Crewe were beaten by the superior side on the night and Artell says that it is now on to the next challenge against a team who were in the Championship last season.
Artell told the club’s official website: “We will work hard out on the training ground like we always do and prepare right. Saturday is another new challenge against another tough side but that is why we worked so hard to win promotion.
“Wycombe were in the Championship last season and they have made a solid start to this season. We know they will be another tough nut to crack but we have to show the bravery and the resilience we have shown at Rotherham and Plymouth because if we do then we can get a result. If we don’t then it will become another tough afternoon.
“What we cannot afford to do is perform like we did at Fleetwood or make the same mistakes we did against Sunderland. If you take out the mistakes we made against Sunderland then it is a different game. We didn’t make them work too hard for their goals and that was the most frustrating thing for me.
The boss added: “It is hard enough facing the top teams in this league without giving goals away like we did. “
