Job title: Full-Time Head of Academy Sport Science and Medicine

Essential requirements
- Master’s degree in sport & exercise science (or related discipline)
- Hold or be working towards British Association of Sport and Exercise Science (BASES) accreditation
- Hold a current EFAiF first aid qualification
- Hold or be working towards UKSCA/NSCA/ASCA accreditation
- Knowledge of the EPPP system
- Knowledge and experience of working in a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to interpret and apply scientific knowledge to practice
- Relevant experience in a sports performance environment
- Experience of utilising relevant data (objective and subjective) to assess, plan and influence training processes
- Excellent IT skills
Role responsibilities
- Report daily to the Academy Manager and Academy Management team
- Assume responsibility for the planning, development, and delivery of the academy physical development program and pathway (U9 to U23)
- Work closely with the Academy Management team to integrate physical development within the holistic development program
- Planning and implementation of sport science processes (e.g. testing, screening, profiling and monitoring)
- Planning and implementation of group/individual strength & conditioning sessions
- Planning and implementation of group/individual injury risk reduction strategies and interventions
- Providing the Academy Manager and Academy Management team physical profiles for all academy players (U9 to U23), relative to age, growth and maturation
- Manage and lead the sport science and medicine team, including staff across sport science, strength & conditioning, physiotherapy, performance analysis, nutrition and psychology, as well developing an internship program
- Maintain and create links with industry-relevant partners and companies
- Oversee the return to play process for rehabilitating players alongside the Lead Academy Physiotherapist
- Contribute to player ongoing review processes with individual player insights
- Ensure continuity across sport science and medicine practices across the academy pathway
- Contribute to ongoing education for staff, parents and players with regard to sport science and medicine disciplines
- Lead on departmental continued professional development, for both internal and external development opportunities
- Assist the Academy Manager as directed
