David Artell has told the club’s official website that he will continue to select his team, formation and tactics to give us the best chance of getting a result.
The Alex boss has changed systems this season and most of his senior squad have been given game time at some point to show what they can do.
Artell wouldn’t be drawn on any potential system when facing MK Dons this weekend and he says that the players will be picked on merit and the thinking behind getting the better of the opposition.
He explained: “We have played different formations and the players can adapt to that because we have done work on it. They haven’t been thrown in at the deep end like they were against Fleetwood last season. We dropped that on them and told them to handle it, which they did.
“I pick a team and formation to benefit the eleven players that start and the potential three substitutes.
“We are not experimenting. We have new players and they adapting. There are always things to learn and I pick a team to try and win the game. That has never changed and it doesn’t matter if we play 3, 4, 5, at the back. “
The boss admits that the research and preparation is there on the opposition but he stresses that the priority has to be on what we do and our own performance.
“You cannot focus too much of your attention on the opposition. You have to concentrate on what you want to do and that has to be the priority, ‘says the manager.
“We do our due diligence on the opposition and do specific things to combat what they might do but the priority has to be on ourselves. “
