Lunt: "Win At Fleetwood Could Really Kick Start Us"

13 October 2021

Kenny Lunt believes that League One is as competitive as ever and that a couple of wins would give us a brighter outlook in the table. Crewe go into Saturday’s away game at Fleetwood on the back of just one defeat in eight, but the club’s assistant manager appreciates that we need to convert some of those draws into three points if we are to start pushing up the league.

Crewe have just the one league win this season coming against Burton Albion at home and Lunt knows that if we want to move away from the bottom places, we need to start getting more three points on board.

He told us: “The division is a strong one and as competitive as ever. With the clubs that have come up and the ones that have come down from the Championship, it is possibly even more competitive than last year.

“It is still very close from where we are to mid-table and a couple of wins would change our outlook and have us looking upwards. It can change very quickly and I’m sure we will start getting those points to move us up the table.

“We have lost just won in the past 8 games but we have drawn too many of those. Of course, a point at Plymouth is different to a point at home to Cambridge when you are 2-0 up at half-time.

“The lads who played got that win against Wigan in the cup and we want that to be the habit. We want to win as many games as we can, regardless of what competition it is.

“In League One, it is tough with some big clubs in it, but we know that on any day, anyone can beat anyone.

He added: “If we can get that win at Fleetwood on the back of what we have done recently, then that is only going to boost the confidence going into the Sunderland game.”
