Kenny Lunt has told the club’s official website that the time without a fixture has allowed the staff to work on different scenarios and formations out on the training ground. The Alex have already played various formations already this season and Lunt says the work will continue with a relatively new group of players to make sure that we are as flexible as we can be to adapt to system changes.
Crewe have not had a fixture due to the International week and have had time to implement things out on the training ground. They go into Saturday’s away fixture at Fleetwood on a run of just one defeat from the last 8 games, but Lunt stresses that some of those draws need to be turned into wins.
Lunt told crewealex.net: “It was good in a way to have that break because it has given us some time to get some work into them. They have had their rest periods but have worked hard and we have had double sessions most days. They were in working on Saturday and it’s been good.
“We have worked on different scenarios and different formations. We have players here who can adapt to changes and when I say that I don’t just mean the ones that have come through the Academy either. Donervon Daniels can play right-back and Mika Mandron came on the right hand side against Cambridge when Scott Kashket was injured.
“We have played a few, different formations already this season and it is good to have that flexibility to call upon. We always look at how the opposition line-up and what their strengths and weaknesses are. If we can get a slight advantage doing something different then of course it is something we discuss as a staff.
He added: “If that means matching up or doing something in the game to try and win the game then we will.”
