'It Took Oli Longer Than We Hoped But He Is Rediscovering His Real Form Now'

Gaffer delighted that attacking midfielder is back in the scoring groove again

David Artell says that is only a matter of time before Oli Finney started finding the back of the net again. Finney has scored two goals in his last two appearances after by his own standards making a slow start to the season.

Finney hit eight goals last season before his campaign was interrupted by a broken leg in February but now the Stafforshire-born midfielder is beginning to reproduce his best form again.

The Alex boss told crewealex.net: “Oli is scoring goals again and that is important for him and for the team. He has scored in successive games now and we want him to be a goal threat in every game he plays.

“He is a good player and we have half understand that it could take him a bit of time to get going again after his injury lay-off. He had that to deal with last season and then there was the upheaval with some of his mates moving on. That can affect people too and he has been professional and got on with it.

“It has probably taken longer than we had hoped for him to be back amongst the goals but we thought it would only be a matter of time before he was.

He added: “Now his aim is to continue to stay in the team, score and assist goals and make sure he ends up like his mates in the future.”
