Boss: "I've Learned To Cope Better With The Frustration"

22 October 2021

Artell says he has faced adversity before and we will come through it again.

David Artell says that experience has taught him to handle the disappointment and frustration of defeats and below par performances better than when he first started.

The Alex boss says he can handle it better and stresses that there is always pressure on winning football matches regardless of where you are in the league.

Crewe have suffered back-to-back defeats to Fleetwood and Sunderland but that came on the back of an encouraging run of one defeat in eight games in all competitions.

The Crewe Alexandra boss told the club’s official website: “There is always pressure to win games of football. There was pressure to beat Cheltenham on the opening day of the season or keep our run going from last season when we finished it with one defeat in the last eight games.

“There is always pressure to win games, regardless of where you are in the league. You learn to cope with the frustration. There were times earlier in my management career when I kicked and headed every ball and played the game for them but I’ve got a lot better with that.

“We are having a difficult time in terms of results but I have faith and belief in this group of players. They are capable of competing at this level and just have to find that consistency in games. We can improve in some areas, we know that, and all of us are working hard to do that.”
