David Artell believes that if his Crewe Alexandra side can perform to the levels they can they can give anyone a game at this level.

The Alex boss is hoping that a home win over Gillingham this weekend can kick start our season in the right direction.

The Railwaymen go into this weekend’s game bottom of League One with just the one league win to our credit against Burton Albion.

Ahead of this weekend’s home game with Gillingham, Artell told the club’s official website: “It hurts me and no one is more frustrated than me. We have to start winning games and quickly or it is going to be a long, long season.

“There is no better time to start winning games than Saturday against Gillingham. That is the next opportunity and we know that if we perform to the levels we can give anyone a game at this level.

He added: “The belief has to be there and if it is then we can turn things around. The fans have been great and we will need them to help us on Saturday and going forward.”
