Williams' Performance Certainly A Shining Light

15 November 2021

Defender Zac Williams a real positive in Bolton defeat

The performances of teenager Zac Williams over the last two games has certainly given everyone a lift. The Wales Youth International retained his place for Friday night’s trip to Bolton Wanderers after he made quite an impression on his senior debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Papa John’s Trophy.

The 17-year-old was one of the main positives to take out of Friday’s 2-0 defeat to Wanderers and the Academy graduate will be hoping to continue his run in the side when Gillingham are the visitors to the Mornflake Stadium on Saturday.

Williams felt right at home in a back three alongside Luke Offord and Terell Thomas.

Following his imposing League One debut, David Artell told us: “The most obvious positive from the game was the performance of Zac. For a 17-year-old kid making his debut I thought he was mistake-free.

“He should have scored with the header from the free-kick- but he was outstanding.

He added: “We all know he has bright future in the game. He has to keep working hard, like he does.”
