Boss Praise For 'Unselfish Kashket Performance'

22 November 2021

David Artell has praised the performance level of Scott Kashket after the summer signing helped Crewe Alexandra to only their second league win of the season against Gillingham.

Kashket may not have got on the scoresheet himself at the Mornflake Stadium but his movement and work ethic certainly set the tone on what was a fine team performance.

The former Wycombe man created chances for his team-mates and was denied a goal himself when Cumming made a smart save in a one-on-one situation.

Artell told the club’s official website: “I thought Scott was good, really good. He made runs with real intent and the fact that they took the left back off before half-time was testament to how he played.

“I don’t think the lad they bought on to replace had a comfortable afternoon with Kash either. He worked his socks off for us and was a real thorn in their side.

“The only downside from his performance was that he didn’t take his chance. He had that 1v1 when Longy put him in and the goalkeeper saved it.

“Scott made a real impact and when you have one of your senior players like that and being that effective with his runs then it makes a massive difference.”
