David Artell says that work has continued in earnest on improving us at both ends of the pitch. Crewe were beaten 2-0 by Bolton Wanderers on Friday evening after what Artell proclaimed afterwards was a ‘crazy ten minutes’ from us that cost us the game.
Crewe conceded avoidable two goals inside the opening 10 minutes of the second hallf although we had genuine chances from Zac Williams, Scott Kashket and Madger Gomes, we couldn’t discover that passage back into the game.
Ahead of this weekend’s home game against Gillingham, Artell told the club’s official website: “Defensively I thought our shape was very good in the first half. We didn’t keep the ball as well as we should have when we got it that’s for sure as well.
“So we know there are areas to work on at both ends of the pitch. It doesn’t matter if you play a back three at the back or four at back, you cannot concede the type of goals we did on Friday night.
“Then we when we had, we whacked it too many times for my liking. That is not Crewe and that is not the Crewe I manage. We have to get back to winning ways and the only way to do that is to work hard on the training ground.
He added: “We will be more prescriptive with them this week to give them more clarity than ownership. We will give them the clarity to do this and do that.”
