Griffiths shows the way to progress into a first-team player
David Artell praised the full league debut of his young midfielder Regan Griffiths after he made his mark at Portman Road on Sunday.
Griffiths was withdrawn late on in our 2-1 defeat to Ipswich Town for Ben Knight and Artell explained that it was a tactical decision as we chased a late goal.
The Alex boss told the club’s official website: “I said on Sunday that Regan didn’t deserve to come off. It was nothing to do with his performance. It was a tactical decision. I bought on Ben (Knight) for Regan because we wanted one higher because we were a goal behind.
“Regan did more than held his own for his full league debut away at Ipswich. I thought he was excellent. It has taken him a bit of time but he is getting there.
“He is a tough Scouser and he is good lad with a great family behind him. He wants to improve and learn.
“We are all delighted for him and although it has taken him maybe 50 odd games for the Under-23s or that loan spell at Notts County, it has all helped him and he could see the pathway which saw him starting at Ipswich in the league.”
