'Mika Needs The Fuel Of Goals'

10 November 2021

French striker back amongst the goals in EFL Trophy

Mikael Mandron, 27, helped himself to a well taken brace in last night’s 3-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers Under-21s. It was the Frenchman’s 5th goal of the season in all competitions and his first since his consolation goal against Morecambe back in September.

The former Sunderland man is battling it out with veteran Chris Porter for the central striker role, although they can also play together when needed.

The Crewe Alexandra boss, David Artell says that the club’s leading scorer last season; thrives on the ‘fuel of goals’ as a forward.

Artell told crewealex.net: “All forwards want to score goals and need to score goals. Mikael is in that bracket, as is Chris Porter, Chris Long and Scott Kashket, they all know they have to chip in with goals.

“Mikael is an experienced player and like any forward he needs goals as part of his fuel. That is his job at the end of the day and hopefully scoring two goals and being a real handful up there (against Wolverhampton Wanderers) will only help him kick on now because we are certainly going to need him.”
