Lowery: "At The Moment It Is Nowhere Near Good Enough From Us"

16 November 2021

Lowery on his return to first-team action after frustrating time.

Alex midfielder Tom Lowery is pleased to be back playing for Crewe Alexandra, but he admits that at the moment ‘performances and results are nowhere near good enough’.

Lowery was not selected at the beginning of the season as his contract situation was not resolved but the 23-year-old is now back in the first-team and focussing on improving our current league position.

The talented midfielder admits that it was a frustrating time not be involved because ‘as a footballer, all you want to do is play’ but he is now aiming to make sure Crewe get back to winning ways as soon as possible.

The Academy graduate told crewealex.net: “We know that at the moment, it is nowhere good enough. We need to get some points on the board and start winning again.

“We have got to turn it around and I think we have enough in the dressing room to turn it around. We have lost some very good players but we still have some very  good players here and when some leave, it is an opportunity for others.

“At the moment, it hasn’t happened for us and we know we all have to improve. It has been nowhere good enough and I include my own performances in that.

“Of course, it is good to be back out there playing. It was a tough few months when I wasn’t playing but I just kept my head down and worked as hard as I could in training every day and hoping that the opportunity would come about where I could play again.

“I kept myself as fit as I could be and it is just nice to be back on the pitch and trying to help the team get results. As a footballer, all you want to do is play football and I am pleased to be doing so.”
