Long Injury Update

4 November 2021

Christopher Long has suffered a groin injury but hopefully it won’t keep the forward out for too long.

The former Everton youngster aggravated the muscle when lifting the ball over the top of the Doncaster Rovers defence on Tuesday evening and although he was determined to continue he was forced off after only 12 minutes with Madger Gomes replacing him. Scott Kashket moved up front.

The 26-year-old has experienced a stop/start beginning to his Crewe career having joined from Motherwell on a free transfer in the summer.

Long suffered a knee injury against Portsmouth and has suffered with Covid and illness which has limited him to seven appearances. He scored his first goal against MK Dons last weekend.

David Artell told the club’s official website: “Christopher has tweaked his groin and we will monitor him. We don’t think that it is anything long-term and we hope he will be back with us fairly soon.”
