Boss: "Every Game Is A Crunch Game"

19 November 2021

David Artell says it doesn't matter who Crewe face as we aim to stay in touch at the bottom.

David Artell says that every game is a ‘crunch game’ after tomorrow’s opponents Gillingham described our League One meeting as such.

The Gills are currently 19th in the table, but eight points clear of Crewe at the bottom. They come into the game at the Mornflake Stadium on the back of one win in 11 games in all competitions and a growing injury list. There has also been speculation surrounding their manager, Steve Evans.

David Artell told the club’s official website: “All our games are crunch games. The first game of the season was a crunch game and the one after that. They are all an opportunity for three points and that is how we treat it.

“It doesn’t matter if we are playing Gillingham at home, or Wimbledon or Sunderland away, we always look to win. That is how professional sport works.

“I am not downplaying the importance of Saturday’s game. We need to start winning games as quickly as possible.

He added: “We have to do our utmost to get maximum points and that is irrespective of who the opposition are.”
