Boss: "Dons Will Present A Different Type Of Test This Evening"

22 November 2021

David Artell eyes back-to-back league wins after improved performance and result against Gillingham.

David Artell says that AFC Wimbledon will be a different type of challenge this evening.

The Alex will head to Plough Lane aiming to secure back-to-back league wins following our deserved 2-0 win over Gillingham on Saturday, but the Alex boss is acutely aware that Mark Robinson’s Dons will present a difficult test.

Crewe will be aiming to build on the foundation of that win against the Gills and hopefully claw back more points on the teams above us at the bottom of the table.

The Railwaymen's last visit to the new Plough Lane Stadium ended in a dramatic 2-1 win thanks to Oli Finney's injury-time winner, just seconds after the Dons had drawn level last December.

Ahead of tonight’s clash with AFC Wimbledon, Artell told us: “Wimbledon are a good side. We have seen them in action and they are a good footballing side. They play the right way and it will be more of a football match than say Saturday.

“We will have to be on our guard and will have to work as hard as we did against Gillingham to make sure we stop Wilmbledon.

“If we can reach the levels we reached against Gillingham on Saturday then we can match anyone in this league. If we pass the ball to each other and attack with intent then we will give anyone a game and that is what we need to do.

He added: “When you have a good result and an even better performance you want to play as soon as you can. This game has come at a good time and we have to take advantage of that. I think we are all looking forward to our trip to the capital.”
