Artell aims for morale boosting win in the FA Cup this weekend.
Although Crewe Alexandra have struggled for results this season, David Artell will always take the FA Cup extremely seriously after branding it ‘the best cup competition in the world.’
Crewe will be aiming to secure a home win over the Robins this weekend in an attempt to build some momentum to take into our league form.
The Crewe Alexandra boss said: “Our approach will be the same as it always is and that is to win the game. For me, the FA Cup is the biggest cup competition in the world and we want to do as well as we can in it.
“We have performed well in the cups this season and we want that to continue against Swindon and then against a young Wolves side on Tuesday evening.
“It will be a challenge for us and we will have to play well to get the result. They came up with us two and bit seasons ago and we know about their players such as Harry McKirdy, who was here and scored a few important goals.
"We have watched them and analysed them and if we don’t play to our potential then it becomes a potential banana skin again, there is no doubt about that.
“The objective is to make sure we are in the hat for the next round.
“Of course, the prize money helps and even more so if you can get to the third round and draw one of the big boys. We had a taste of it against Leeds in the League Cup and I’m sure everyone would like to have an experience like that again.
“We have done well in the cups this year and whilst the money and all that helps, we want to get that win on the board and start to build some momentum.
He added: “We didn’t play well enough in the second half against Doncaster on Tuesday but we didn’t lose the game. We got a point and if we can win the next two games in the cups, we go into the Bolton game on the back of going three unbeaten which looks a lot healthier.”
