David Artell appreciates that it is going to a rough ride for the remainder of the season - but the determined Alex boss says that the objective remains to stay in League One at the end of it.
Crewe are currently bottom of League One having won just one of our opening 16 leagues games and although it appears a tough ask on paper, Crewe are only a couple of wins away from possible safety.
An honest Crewe Alexandra boss knows that results have to change and quickly to give us any chance and he admits that if we were to pull it off, it would be the ‘great achievement of his career. ‘
Artell told the club’s official website: “I think everyone could see it was going to be tougher after the players we lost and what we had to cope with over the summer and then during the first month of the season but that isn’t us being defeatist and I certainly won’t tolerate an acceptance of that.
“There will be no-one admitting defeat here and the objective is to stay in this league, it is as simple as that. Now we are going to have to work hard to do that and if we do, I would say that it would be the greatest achievement in my career all things considered.
He added: “We all have to grasp the gravity of the situation we find ourselves in but there are still plenty of points to play for and we all have to improve to turn it around. Hopefully that hard work we put in will come to fruition and we have to give ourselves a fighting chance by staying in touch with those above us.”
