Boss: "Alex Shoots From His Hip And His Feedback Has Been Invaluable"

10 November 2021

David Artell has revealed that he and his backroom staff have really benefitted from having the experienced manager, Alex Neil, provide his opinion on how the club is run football wise.

The former Hamilton, Preston and Norwich manager is a former team-mate of the Alex boss and Artell muted the idea of having a fresh pair of eyes on things months ago.

Neil has been available to come in and observe and offer his input and Artell says that he has already had an influence.

Artell told the club’s official website: “Alex is a good guy and I trust him and his judgement. He shoots from the hip and tells you how it is and it has been good to have a fresh pair of eyes on things.

“I know he is honest and will express his opinion. That is all it is, and you have to take on board what he says because of the career he has had and the levels he has managed at. He has managed in the SPL, the Scottish Championship, the Championship and Premiership, so that is a great CV.

“Some managers might not have done it, but as I’ve always said, myself and the staff are always looking to improve and this is another way. I don’t think I have much of an ego, so I suggested it and muted it to the board and to others a long time ago. It’s been beneficial.

“Alex tells you as is it. He has his opinions on how we do things, what we are good at, what we can improve on and now that he has watched training and a couple of the games, he can give his opinion on the players and what he thinks.

“It is all good feedback and I think it will help us a lot going forward.”
