Artell: "Pickering Won't Be Fazed By Step Up To Championship"

12 May 2021

David Artell believes that his former club captain, Harry Pickering, will not be fazed making the step up into the EFL Championship next season.

Pickering played his final game for the club on Sunday, helping us to three points against Shrewsbury Town and pushed us up to 12th in the League One table.

The 22-year had returned to Crewe on loan in January after agreeing to a move to Ewood Park and Artell says that the full-back will only go on and improve, much in the same way Perry Ng has done with Cardiff City.

Artell told the club’s official website: “Harry will respond to the challenge. He won’t be fazed making that step up to the Championship. He will work his socks off to try and get into the Blackburn team and stay there.

“He is a fantastic professional and I genuinely believe that there is even more to come from him. He will only get better. He is a real good player and he will strive to improve every day, like he did here with us.

“Now will he go in and hit the ground running and get into their team? That decision is not down to me but Perry (Ng) did just that at Cardiff and Harry has the ability to replicate that.

He added: “His temperament is second to none and he has a great desire to win and responds to set-backs really well. His football is good enough and so ishis mindset and I’m sure he will go on to have a great career.”
