'Mika Finishes As Leading Goalscorer But He Can Get Even More'

10 May 2021

Mika Mandron’s well taken brace against Shrewsbury Town on Sunday saw him finish the season as the leading scorer ahead of teammate Owen Dale. Both players went into the final game on 12 goals each but Mandron’s first half double saw him emerge as the top marksman for the club.

His return of 14 goals is his best return in the EFL and is just one short of the 15 goals he scored for Eastleigh in the National League back in 2016-17, thus securing him a move back into the League with Wigan Athletic.

David Artell told the club’s official website: “Mika has scored 14 goals and he can improve and he will improve. He has committed his future here and we want him to improve and get to 18,19, 20 goals.

“I would have thought that 14 goals is probably his best return in the league, so I am maybe being a little harsh but we want to get more out of all of them. Can we get five or six more goals out of Mika.

He added: “We need Kirky to score more goals, he need more from Finney and Ainley. Can we get Owen up from 12, to 14, 16, 18 because if we do then that gives us more chance of winning more points.”
