Focus firmly on claiming the final three points of the season

David Artell says you cannot consider ‘cutting corners’ when it comes to playing any League One match.

Crewe Alexandra complete the 2020/21 season with a home game against Shrewsbury Town on Sunday and Artell wants to end with a home win.

Although there is nothing riding on the game in terms of promotion or relegation issues, the boss is focussed on ending with three points and a possible top half finish.

Talking ahead of Sunday’s finale, the boss said: “You always have to prepare for every game in a professional way and this one will be no different.

“You cannot afford to cut any corners because you get found out. That is not how it should be because it is the last game of the season. You have to approach every game in the right manner and I know that Steve (Cotterill) will be exactly the same.

“The outcome is important because it is three points and hopefully we can get in that top half of the table. “
