Artell: "We Had To Move Senior Players On To Try And Get Better In"

Boss is convinced experienced trio will get fixed up this summer but he took the decision to release them to look to improve.

David Artell is sure that the experienced Daniel Powell, Eddie Nolan and Olly Lancashire will get fixed up with new clubs this summer. The manager took the decision not to renew their contracts at the end of the end of the season and they are now on the look-out for new clubs.

Artell has stated that it was a difficult decision to let three of his most senior players leave this summer but he is determined to find better to try and improve his squad going forward.

The Alex boss said: “It wasn’t an easy decision to make in letting those three players leave because they have been good pros and served the club well but we have to move on and look for better. That is the way we will improve.

“It is never nice and I wanted to tell them face-to-face and be honest with them. I think that is important. I think it is important to look them in the eye and tell them and it is important that they have their say as well. It is morally the right thing to do and although it is never easy, it is part of the job.

“I am sure the three lads will remain in the game and get good clubs because they are good players and good professionals.”
