Saturday's best performer wants to do enough again to stay in the team

Rio Adebisi says he is pleased with the way his recent involvement with the first-team is going. The 20-year-old has grabbed his chance with both hands following the departure of Perry Ng to Cardiff City in the January transfer window and the recent slight injury to Donervon Daniels.

Adebisi has forced his way ahead of his fellow young team-mate, Travis Johnson, and was in the words of the manager ‘our best player by some distance’ in the defeat at Lincoln on Saturday.

Adebisi has had to switch from his more natural left back spot to the right hand side - but the former Academy graduate says that is no issue when you have come through the ranks at the club.

Rio told the club’s official website: “I am very happy with the way things have gone for me recently. I was out at the start of the season because of injury, so I had a few months of full-on training and that has helped me.

“So now to be back in the team and getting game time is just what I wanted. The gaffer put his faith in me and that is a great feeling to have. I am happy with the way things are going at the minute and hopefully I can get more game time and help me with my development and progress.

“League One is very different to League Two. You can tell the difference. It is a lot quicker and competitive and you have to keep concentrated because one moment can end in a goal.

“I am really enjoying it. I don’t mind playing at right-back. I can cut in on my left and the defending is the same, just on the other side. I am comfortable on both sides and I just want to help the team by putting in crosses and getting in the opposition box, whilst also making sure my man doesn’t get the better of me.

“I think my confidence will grow with more games and the experience I am getting. I feel I will become even more relaxed and that will see me take shots on or try and beat my man. “
