Midfielders Resume Running Again In Bid To Play Before The End Of The Season

19 March 2021

Alex midfielders Oli Finney and Josh Lundstram have resumed running again at the Manchester Institute of Health and Performance. The club have stepped up their rehab and remain hopeful that they could get some game time before the end of the season if they suffer no ill effects.

Finney is recovering from the broken leg he suffered against Shrewsbury back in January and he has been wearing a protective boot to help with the healing process. The midfielder will be looking forward to removing the boot and running on the resistance treadmill at the Institute next week.

Meanwhile, Lundstram is recovering from his own fracture of the ankle and has already attended sessions at the institute in Manchester this past week. The 22-year-old had made five appearances earlier in the season before suffering the injury in our Football League Trophy group match against Newcastle United.

David Artell also revealed that winger, Daniel Powell, and young midfielder, Joe Robbins, have picked up knocks but are heading in the right direction. Powell missed last weekend’s home game against Burton Albion after failing a late fitness test.
