Lunt: "Rio Was Our Best Performer"

8 March 2021

Assistant manager, Kenny Lunt, praised the performance of full-back Rio Adebisi against promotion chasing Lincoln City.

Due to a slight hamstring concern with Donervon Daniels, Adebisi has stepped into the right-back spot and performed admirably for the team. The 20-year-old started against Lincoln City and was selected as our best performer by both the manager and his assistant.

Lunt told the club’s official website: “Rio was our best player. He is a young lad and when you stand out when others around you are not playing near their level then he deserves even more credit.

“Rio can play on the right side. It is the way they are brought up here. Rio would have played left-back, left midfield, centre-half, centre midfield and left wing and at some point would have played right-back.

“Now he probably wouldn’t have expected to have played there for the first team but his chance has come along and he has taken it.

“He set up a goal up at Blackpool and nearly scored on himself when he got in there for a header. Not many young lads would get in that position in the first place.

He added: “He was our best performer and now has to be consistent and he has the shirt and it is up to him to keep it.”
