Daniels: "We Have To Build On Sunderland Performance"

1 March 2021

Returning defender targetting a run of results to get us right back in the frame.

A fit-again Donervon Daniels has certainly helped the club fill the void left by the departing skipper Perry Ng.

Daniels has worked exceptionally hard to return from a grade 3 hamstring tear and his experience has helped us pick up four points against promotion contenders Accrington Stanley and Sunderland in the last two games.

The former Blackpool, Wigan and Luton completed his second 90 minutes in the matter of days as the Railwaymen were pinned back against Sunderland at Gresty Road.

Daniels, 27, told the club’s official website: “At the end of the day it was frustrating not to have won the game after leading 2-0 and being so dominant. It felt like a loss.

“We have to take the positives from the way we played against Sunderland and build on that. After the Swindon game, we spoke as a group and about the aim of going on a run.

“We feel we are hitting a level of consistency and form at just the time and we want to build the momentum we will need to take us where we want to be.

“The aim is to get into the play-offs and since our chat after the Swindon defeat I would say we are on a course to reach the points’ tally we would need.”
