Crewe Alexandra manager, David Artell, says that talks are on-going with certain players, who are approaching the end of their contracts this summer.

The Alex manager says that it is never straight forward dealing with agents but he remains confident that the club will make the best possible offers to those they intend to keep at the conclusion of the season.

Artell told crewealex.net: “Talks are on-going with some. Some have more leverage than others if you like and it is never easy getting hold of agents or negotiating with them. They have their own responsibilities and criteria and you try to come to a mutual agreement. Some do and some don’t.

“It is a tough part of the job and it is not a nice side of the job. That is why so managers are taking Head Coaching roles and not having that responsibility.

“It can be tough and incessant but hopefully the work we do will reach a positive conclusion. We have a number of players out of contract and some of them will be easier than others.

“There is a large spectrum to deal with and these things tend to take time.”
