"Kayne Won't Be Fazed Coming Here"

Right-back will settle straight in says David Artell

Kayne Ramsay has faced both Manchester clubs in his early Southampton career and now on loan for the season at Crewe Alexandra, David Artell says the promising right-back won’t be fazed by League One football.

Ramsay rejected the chance to join a number of Championship clubs to sign for the Railwaymen because he wants regular first-team football.

The 20-year-old from Hackney will face competition for his place from the likes of Travis Johnson and Luke Offord, and Artell says that Ramsay’s bubbly personality will see him fit in straight away inside the dressing room.

Artell told the club’s official website: “We have a good young player from a Premier League club. If you come through and play at that level then you are a good player. You have to have something about you.

“Kayne has played against both Manchester clubs in the Premier League, so that must have been a baptism of fire for him, so coming here and playing in League One won’t faze him.

“He is a sensible lad with a strong personality. When I picked him up from the station, he just started talking about England and Southgate and I thought that will do for me.

“He had a brief spell on loan at Shrewsbury before Covid hit and that would have been a great experience for him.

He added: “He will want to come here and play as many games as he can. He is a solid character and I’m sure him coming here will make him a better player. “
