Boss: "Always Important To Visit Some Of Local Clubs In Pre-Season"

Alex to kick off summer campaign with a trip to local neighbours Nantwich Town.

Crewe Alexandra will kick off their pre-season campaign with a local fixture against Nantwich Town. The game will take place on Sunday 11th July with a noon kick-off at the Weaver Stadium and the clubs will be competing for the Barry Daly Trophy in memory of the former club coach and taxi driver who sadly passed away in June 2019.

Alex boss David Artell says it is vitally important to keep that local connection in pre-season going and joked that the Dabbers will be probably win again!

Artell told the club’s official website: “We always try and get to Nantwich and visit other local clubs. It is important we try and do that.

“Nantwich have always been good to us. They are good people there and the connection has always been strong. We have had players off them in the past and we have loaned a lot of our younger ones there too. A lot of them released from here end up playing there because it is a good club and a good set up.

“They have been very helpful with their pitch and allowing our under-23s to play there and it is always a good game for the fans to attend.

He boss half joked: “They usually win. Callum Saunders usually scores two but it is always a good run out in the early part our part of pre-season.”
