Artell: "Good Luck To Ryan"

Boss on Wintle's Cardiff switch

David Artell has told the club’s official website that ‘it would have been nice’ to have received a fee for helping Ryan Wintle develop into the Championship player he has now become - but has wished our former midfielder all the best following his move to Cardiff City.

The 24-year-old allowed his contract to run down at Gresty Road and has moved to the Bluebirds on a free transfer after rejecting Crewe’s offer of a new deal.

Wintle, who joined the club’s Academy as a promising teenager after being spotted by Dario Gradi playing for Alsager Town, has signed a three-year deal with the Championship side and join his former captain, Perry Ng, in South Wales.

Artell told the club’s official website: “Yes, it would have been nice if we have got something for Ryan but it is what it is. We didn’t think he would sign his contract and had planned to be without him.

Artell added: “That may have been his agent’s doing and it is not worth talking about really. We have moved on from it but good luck to Ryan. He is a good player, he has some work to do as well to make that step up to the Championship but I’m sure we will be okay.”
