Tyreece Onyeka’s impressive pre-season continued with a superbly taken equaliser in the 1-1 draw with Kidsgrove Athletic. The 19-year-old forward levelled things up with 12 minutes remaining after good approach play from Connor Salisbury and a mistake in the Kidsgrove defence. Onyeka kept his cool to score from a narrow angle past our former Academy goalkeeper, Kieran Harrison.
His equalising goal at the Autonet Insurance Stadium was his second of the pre-season following his finish in the 4-1 win at Nantwich Town. He also made a positive impact when coming on as second half against Stoke City on Tuesday evening.
Goalkeeper Dave Richards started the friendly after playing the last 30 minutes against Stoke. He played 70 minutes.
Full-back Nathan Woodthorpe made a successful return from injury. He successfully got through an hour.
Alex Morris selected a young side, made up mainly of youngsters but midfielders Joe Robbins and Regan Griffiths also started in what was another useful run out for the Under-23 squad.
