David Artell has been pleased with his players’ application during their first week of pre-season training.
The Alex players returned to full-time training on July 1st and Artell says the players have had to hit the ground running after a tough re-introduction.
The Alex kick off their pre-season programme away at local neighbours Nantwich Town on Sunday at midday.
Artell told crewealex.net: “It is never easy at this time of the year. I have told the players that if I had a pill that could make it easy, I would let them have it but there isn’t one.
“It has been tough and the players have had a tough week. It will get harder. They will be in all week before the game on Sunday before they have Monday off. Some genius planned that believing England would get to the final! I knew, or hoped anyway.
“I am sure once they knew that the final was on Sunday, they were prepared to come in for 7 straight days. They have all worked hard and they all know how vital it is for them to get that physicality into the body to last the season.
“They are all going along nicely at the minute.”
