Rio: "Tough Home Games Have Been Perfect For The New Season"

Left-back gears up for next Championship challenge

Rio Adebisi says that having the opportunity to test ourselves against Premier League and Championship players this pre-season has only enhanced our development.

The young left-back is once again hoping to be involved against Nottingham Forest this weekend and have that opportunity to stake his place in David Artell’s starting XI for the opening day of the season on August 7th.

Adebisi says that although the fixtures have been tough, it has been a great learning curve for everyone.

The club’s Breakthrough Player of the Year said: “The home games have been tough and it is good to play top teams, especially in front of supporters.

“It makes it even harder in the heat but it makes us fitter in the long term and you have to be able to play in all-weathers.

“When we started pre-season it was certainly cooler for the running, but now it has been red hot and it has been tough, but you adjust and get on with it.

He added: “It has just been good to have that real tests going into the season and have that opportunity to show what we can do. It helps us with the fitness and forming those relationships, especially with the new players coming and the style of play we want.”
