Kenny Lunt says it is a ‘terrific gesture for Stoke City to agree to play us for Ashton Hulme’. Crewe host our local neighbours at Mornflake Stadium on Tuesday evening with kick off at 7pm and Lunt says not only will it be a challenge for our players but also such a memorable night for young Ashton in his battle against cancer.
The club’s young goalkeeper is a mad Stoke City fan and all proceeds from tomorrow’s match will go towards his fight and providing him and his family with the finances to get the very best in prosthetics.
Lunt told the club’s official website: “Hopefully, we will get as many people as possible to come to the game. It should be a good game, like it was against Wolves, and this one is for a great cause as well.
“We all wanted to be a part of Ashton’s fight and it is a great gesture from Stoke. They agree to play us and for all the proceeds to go to the family.
“It is one we are looking forward to and hopefully we can get as many supporters there as we can. I hope everyone can enjoy the night. It is about Ashton really but of course we will get what we need out of it as well.
“It is fantastic to have Stoke at our stadium and to test ourselves against that calibre of player again. It will be another great experience for our lads and I’m sure an even greater one for young Ashton.”
