Club's fourth summer signing says style of play really appealed in choosing Alex as his next destination.
Crewe Alexandra’s latest signing, Tommie Hoban, says that one of the main reasons why he agreed to his summer switch is because of the football we play. The former Watford man admits that he did his research on the club’s style of play when deciding where to go next after a successful spell in Scotland with Aberdeen.
The 27-year-old made 44 appearances in all competitions for the SPL side last season but he wanted to return to England and play once again in the EFL.
Hoban, who previously captained the Republic of Ireland Under-21 side has also played for Blackburn Rovers but he still feels there is room for improvement in his game.
After signing an initial 12-month deal with the option of an extension, Hoban said: “I am really happy that is the deal is done and I can’t wait to get going.
“I spoke to the manager and it comes across as an exciting team and an exciting club. Everyone I spoke to speaks so highly about the club and how they like to play football.
“I spoke to some players, who have played against Crewe in the leagues over the last couple of years and the one comment that kept coming up was that they play really good football.
“That really appealed to me and it is something I wanted to be a part of.
“I was impressed with what the manager had to say. He was a defender himself and he wants to improve me as a player. I don’t think it matters what age you are, 18 or 32, 33, there is always room for improvement and I think that about myself and my game.
“I am looking forward to it and I am sure the staff here will get the best out of me and I can help the team have a successful season.”
