David Artell has revealed that goalkeeper Will Jaaskelainen missed Saturday’s friendly against Nottingham Forest due to self-isolation. He is the latest Crewe Alexandra player forced to isolate after being pinged by the NHS track and trace system. The club welcomed back Shaun MacDonald and Chris Porter last week from their period of isolation and forward Mika Mandron will resume full training tomorrow.
The boss also revealed that midfielder, Oli Finney missed the 2-2 draw with the Championship side as a precaution. Finney had a tight muscle close to his shin and was not risked. He has trained today and is available for tomorrow’s friendly at Oldham Athletic.
Artell said: “Will has had to isolate, so he wasn’t available. With Oli, he had a tight muscle down his shin but he is fine. He could have played but we felt we shouldn’t risk him. He is available for Tuesday at Oldham.”
